MHEC (Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose)
Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (MHEC) also known as Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose (HEMC) is an aqueous solution of a non-ionic cellulose ether obtained by treating natural cellulose. It has many applications in construction, paints, coatings, and tile adhesives owing to its exceptional thickening and workability properties. MHEC increases open time, prevents sagging, and enhances adhesion in cementitious compositions while offering viscosity stability and smooth flow characteristics. MHEC readily dissolves in water, forming transparent to slightly turbid solutions that function effectively over a broad pH range.

Key Features
- Aids in retaining water content in mixtures to improve workability and curing of cement mixtures.
- Increases viscosity with minimal quantities, providing better consistency in paints, mortars, and adhesives.
- Facilitates easy spreading and provides smooth application of construction and coating materials.
- Prolongs the setting time of adhesive for tiles, plaster, and render before the mixture sets.
- Avoids sagging in vertically applied materials, such as wall coatings and tile adhesives.
- Effective whether the solution is acidic or alkaline in nature.
- Mixes well with other additives and construction materials.
- Does not interfere with salts or charged compounds in solutions to ensure stability.
- Is unaffected by changes in temperature during mixing and application.
