HEC (Hydroxyethyl Cellulose)
Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is a non-ionic, water-soluble polymer made from cellulose. It thickens water-based systems, controls flow and holds water in the mix. BosTech Polymer supplies HEC to paint, coating, construction and personal care manufacturers across the UAE and the wider GCC.
HEC dissolves in both hot and cold water and builds viscosity quickly. That makes it one of the most widely used thickeners in water-based paints. It is also used in construction products, cosmetics and oilfield fluids, where it acts as a thickener, binder and stabilizer.
Every order comes with a technical datasheet and a safety datasheet.

Key Features
- Non-ionic: does not react with most salts, so it tolerates a wide range of pigments, fillers and surfactants
- Dissolves in hot and cold water: simple to add to a batch without special heating
- High viscosity at low dosage: builds body in paints and pastes efficiently
- Good water retention: keeps water in the film or mix longer, which supports workability
- Stable when heated: unlike methylated cellulose ethers such as HPMC and MHEC, HEC does not gel as the temperature rises
- Multi-industry grade: used in paints, construction products, personal care and oilfield fluids
