Fire Retardant Brominated Epoxy Resin
Brominated Epoxy Resin (BER) also referred to as flame retardant epoxy resin, is a specialized epoxy resin in which bromine has been chemically incorporated into the resin structure, most commonly through reaction with tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBA), to provide inherent flame resistance without sacrificing the mechanical strength, adhesion, and chemical resistance that make standard epoxy resins so widely used.
This brominated chemistry inhibits the spread of flame and reduces smoke generation, which is why brominated epoxy resins are the standard choice in applications where fire safety is a regulatory or design requirement, most notably electrical laminates and printed circuit boards (PCBs), but also in fire-rated coatings and composite materials across industrial and construction sectors.
Due to the brominated nature of this product, it can inhibit the spread of flames and produce low smoke levels, making it ideal for superior performance in industrial and electrical applications.
- Inbuilt fire-retardant nature through bromination
- High thermal stability and heat resistance
- Exceptional mechanical strength and rigidity
- Superb adhesion to metal surfaces and other laminates and composites
- Minimal smoke production upon combustion
- Applicable to electrical/electronic purposes
